Made in 1879, this motto features an evergreen tree as a Christmas icon. Once a German tradition, the evergreen was widely adopted after the London Illustrated News published a woodcut illustration in 1848, showing Princess Victoria and Prince Albert celebrating Christmas with an indoor tree.
