Labeled #4 on it’s reverse, this motto hung over a corresponding 4 marked on the wall. Jane Webster took the mottos down every September, returning them to their prescribed location in May. Organized thematically, the first ten mottos in the sun porch refer to home and familial love.

This motto will disintegrate if removed from its frame. A large tear along the centerline is held in place by a few stitches that join one broken side to the other.  The ink pattern is clearly visible where a flower’s petals were never completed.
